After more than a year of dating, the music has stopped for The Last Song costars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, his rep confirms to WHO.

The actors had been fending off breakup rumors for months. In June, Cyrus, 17, denied they had split, telling fans on her Web site that they were "so happy."

"I'm not really a big lovey person. I'm not, like, mushy. [But] Liam was the first person that made me want to be in a real relationship," she told WHO in April.

For his part, the Australian actor, 20, called their relationship "pretty serious" and said he admired her "big heart" and how she was "just so open."

Cyrus, who connected with Hemsworth on the set of the new teen drama, was at first coy to talk about the romance. But the couple's chemistry was obvious, and by November last year the two were often snapped with their arms around each other.

"I've never gotten along with someone so well," the singer and actress revealed in an interview with Seventeen magazine at the time.

"I was a little anxious about making this movie; I wanted everything to be perfect. To go on set and feel insecure was a totally new element for me. But he [Hemsworth] felt the same way. He admitted his insecurities, and it was really nice to have someone who understands me for once."
