In the two-hour long film, titled “Our Queen at Ninety”, the Duchess speaks for the first time about her relationship with Queen Elizabeth, saying the pair enjoy a special bond.

“She’s been very generous in not being forceful at all and in any of her views, but I feel she’s been there, a gentle guidance really for me,” she says in the upcoming documentary.

The Duchess also speaks about the Queen’s delight with the addition of Princess Charlotte to the royal clan. “It’s very special having a new little girl...I feel very, very lucky that George has got a little sister.

“The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl, and I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington Palace she was one of our first visitors.”

Duchess Catherine, who hasn’t been interviewed on TV since her engagement to Prince William in 2011, also reveals in the documentary that Prince George has a special moniker for the 90-year old Queen.

“George is only 2-and-a-half and calls her ‘Gan-Gan’,” she says. “She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay, and that just shows her love for her family.”

“Our Queen at Ninety” also features interviews with the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Prince William, who offers his own thoughts on people’s reactions to meeting the queen.

“A lot of people get very excited and sort of nervous around her,” he says. “And I’ve seen some very comical moments. I’ve seen people literally faint in front of her.”
