Matt Kerr: Family, food and fighting for marriage

Thought Miranda was the only Kerr making waves in the world? Think again. The supermodel’s baby brother Matt, 30, recently invited WHO to visit Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen, the small, “mostly organic” eatery he and his marketing executive fiancé Jimmy Wright, 37, opened in the Hunter Valley last August.

“I love it here,” Kerr tells WHO. “And when my nan’s house burnt down, what we had as a [family] meeting place was completely destroyed. I always wanted to bring that back in some way.”

The 40-seat restaurant is clearly a labour of love—and speaking of which, Kerr says he and Wright are planning to wed, hopefully in their new home, on Dec. 30 this year … whether or not Australia changes its laws to allow same-sex marriage. But he remains hopeful.

“I reckon by December the law will have definitely changed,” says Kerr, who has another big venture on his mind. “I just want to be a dad. And before Jimmy is 40, so we’ve got a few years.”
