Hundred of mourners have gathered in Irish town Cappawhite to farewell Cathriona White, ex-girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey.

The make up artist, 30, was found dead in her Los Angeles home last month in a suspected suicide.

On Friday night, friends and neighbours gathered to pay their respects to White in her hometown ahead of her funeral service on Saturday October 10, Ireland time. Her body was moved from the funeral parlour owned by her grandfather to the parish church, with mourners following the procession to Our Lady of Fatima Church. White will then be buried next to her late father Pat in the local cemetery.

Carrey, 53, is expected to attend the service. “Jim has been left devastated after the tragic death of Cathriona. Attending her funeral in Ireland will be the least he could do to pay tribute to the woman he loved,” one source told the Sunday People Newspaper.

“He has been in touch with Cathriona’s family and they want him at the funeral. They know how much he meant to her.”

White and Carrey had been romantically linked on and off for three years, with the Dumb and Dumber actor left “deeply saddened” by her death.

"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled," Carrey said in a statement. "My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her."
