Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford Welcome Their First Child

The Suffragette actress has welcomed her first child with her husband, Mumford & Sons’ frontman Marcus Mumford, according to E! News.

“Carey has given birth to a healthy and happy baby,” a source says. “She is just enjoying this time with her family and close friends.”

The mum-to-be, 30, managed to keep her growing baby bump mostly under wraps in a structured gown while arriving to the Tony Awards back in June, where she was nominated for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play for Skylight.

And while the notoriously private couple — who wed on a farm in Somerset, England, in 2012 — have yet to comment on their happy news, Mulligan’s pal Sienna Miller admitted to Vogue in May that she was looking forward to her friends starting a family.

“They have chickens and a dog, and roasts and friends, jams by campfires. It’s sort of idyllic. Marcus can headline Glastonbury and Carey can be nominated for however many Oscars, and then they come back to their farm, and they’re in big woolly jumpers and funny hats, raising piglets,” Miller said.

“It’s an amazing balance they’ve managed to strike. I can’t wait for a little baby to come along.”

Mulligan most recently starred in Refinery29’s The Walker, while Mumford, 28, returns to the road in November with his band.
