Julian Assange's Escape Plans

According to a leaked intelligence report, the Ecuadorian embassy considered several escape plots for Julian Assange, who has been holed up inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012.

One scheme had the WikiLeaks boss smuggled out the front doors disguised in fancy dress. Other ideas included a helicopter whisking the 44-year-old away — or him sneaking into Harrods, across the road from the embassy, to become lost in a horde of shoppers.

The report, compiled by Ecuadorian intelligence agency Senain and published by Focus Ecuador, also reveals some of Assange's behaviour inside the embassy.

Not long after he moved in as an asylum seeker, Assange had a "scuffle" with an embassy guard, the report says. He would also "shout and talk incoherently" at night, which was attributed to stress.

Further, in 2013, a guard heard a loud crash coming from Assange's room and later discovered a smashed bookcase.

"Counselling may be recommended," the report stated.

Assange moved into the embassy in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden where he is wanted for questioning over alleged sexual assaults. He fears extradition to Sweden will mean ultimate removal to the US, where is wanted over alleged espionage.
