It's hard to believe the Flaming Lips have been around for almost 30 years when the best -known period of their career came in the last decade. But Wayne Coyne and co. first joined forces in 1983 in Norman, Oklahoma. They've been going strong ever since.

    The Flaming Lips?!? Why are they on this list when Chicago (formed in 1967) isn't?

    Van Halen, 1972, Iron Maiden 1975.. But The Flaming Lips made the list and they didn't.. ppppp
