Christina Parie: How I Got Over the Shock of My Surprise Elimination

Christina Parie

Christina Parie's shock elimination from X-Factor on Tuesday night ranks as the season's biggest surprise so far. But no one was more surprised by Natalie Bassingthwaighte's decision to send Christina Parie packing than the 16-year-old rocker chick herself, who caught up with WHO to talk about how she's holding up and what life looks like after X-Factor.

"It was a shock, definitely" Parie told WHO about her elimination. "Last night was hard to get through."

What made it even harder, said Parie, was the company she kept in the bottom, Reese Mastin. "I was just like, is there even any point of me singing? It's against Reece, how am I going to compete with him?"

If facing the season favourite, Mastin, in the bottom two wasn't enough of a challenge, Parie was also competing against one of her closest friends in the competition. "Because it was Reese and I in the bottom two, and he's one of my closest friends, it was really hard."

Despite the result that aired in Reese's favour, however, Parie says there is no bad blood. "We'll be friends long after the show." After the elimination, "we went back to the apartments with both of our families and just talked out everything that had happened."

"At the end of the day, it's a competition," Parie shared. "Reese and I both knew that this day would come for one of us."

For now, Parie will be rooting for her good friend from home: "Reese will win. Last night was too big a scare for his fans. His fan-base will be back bigger and better than ever," she added.

The X-Factor airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Channel 7.
