Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson and her hotelier beau Jeffrey Soffer tied the knot last month during a week-long stay at the luxury Laucala Resort in Fiji surrounded by friends and family, sources confirm to WHO.
During the "day wedding" Macpherson and Soffer exchanged vows inside a villa in front of "about 15 guests", according to a hotel rep, including Macpherson's two sons, Flynn, 15, and Cy, 10.
The guests arrived at different times, while Elle, Jeffrey and the boys holidayed at the resort for a week. The hotel confirmed the wedding took place in "mid July".
Introduced by mutual friends, the couple have weathered their share of turbulence since they began dating in early 2009.
After briefly splitting in March 2012, tragedy sparked a reconciliation when Soffer was involved in a helicopter crash in the Bahamas on November 22 which killed his friend, Lance Valdez, and saw him undergo surgery for a fractured vertebrae.
Never one to share much about her personal life in the past, Macpherson told WHO last year: "I have a man in my life who is so beautiful, and he's definitely the sexiest man I've ever met. But it's his personality; I love him."
This is the second marriage for Macpherson, whose three-year marriage to photographer Gilles Bensimon ended in 1989.
"This is such a joyful time for Elle and Jeff," says a source of the newlyweds. "They are both thrilled."
Adds another source: "Jeff's really normal and a relaxed kind of person. In that way, actually, he's almost Australian. [The family] think he's great."
