Megan Gale: Mad About Charlize Theron

Model turned actress Megan Gale has opened up about working with Charlize Theron on the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road.

Speaking to WHO on the red carpet at the second annual AACTA Awards in Sydney last night, “She was amazing, completely professional,” raved Gale of the Oscar winner, who has a lead role opposite Tom Hardy in the sequel to the Mad Max trilogy, which wrapped filming in Namibia and South Africa late last year.

“She was just completely relaxed and just one of the crew and very … I guess you know when you hear about people being very generous as actors as well? She completely embodied that,” added Gale.

“She would chat to you before a scene and have ideas, and ask for your ideas.”

Gale, 37, who joins Aussies Abbey Lee Kershaw, John Howard, Angus Sampson and Gillian Jones in supporting roles, was tight-lipped on her part in the post-apocalyptic film, helmed by George Miller, the director of the original trilogy that made Mel Gibson a star.

Showcasing her knockout figure on the red carpet in a black Alex Perry halter-gown with a Valentino clutch ahead of her AACTAs presenting duties, “I will say my role is so far removed from this—very raw and dishevelled,” revealed the host of Project Runway Australia, who made her acting debut in the 2010 Australian rom-com I Love You Too.

“But it’s good for me to do something different; that’s a huge step away from what I usually do, how I walk, how I act.”

While working alongside Theron “reaffirmed” a desire to act, Gale wont be trading in her successful career in Australia, which includes contracts with David Jones and L’Oreal Paris and her swimwear label Isola, for the bright-lights of Hollywood: “If I was 20, perhaps,” she said.

“But hopefully the right projects will come up at the right time. I get a lot of satisfaction out of [acting] and it’s something I really love to do.”
