Actress Nicole Kidman and TV host Ellen De Generes stunned her talk show audience today when they announced that all 400 guests would be gifted a trip to Australia.

The generous offer, jointly funded by Swisse and Qantas, kicked off the official world-wide launch of the Australian vitamin company, of which Kidman is a global ambassador.

Kidman, who was a guest on DeGeneres's show, talked about her love of Australia before DeGeneres made the shock announcement to screaming audience members as metallic red, white and blue streamers fell from the ceiling.

This will be the first trip to Australia for DeGeneres, who hasn't visited due to scheduling conflicts despite being married to Australian actress Portia DeRossi. "Long before I met Portia, I've wanted to go to Australia, and since my birthday is on Australia Day [January 26] I'd like to give you all a special birthday gift," DeGeneres told the audience.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which has joined Swisse for a year-long commercial partnership, will arrive in Australia on March 15 to shoot numerous segments in Melbourne and Sydney.

As well as the return flights to either Sydney or Melbourne, each guest will receive a 6-night stay in a 4-star hotel.

Earlier in the show, DeGeneres told Kidman she was devastated the star didn't receive a best actress nomination at this year's Academy Awards for her "astounding" performance in The Paperboy. Kidman said she was "very happy" with her two Golden Globes nominations and her Screen Actors Guild nod. "As an actress, it's especially humbling to be honoured by other actors at the SAG Awards," said Kidman.
