Welsh Feathers: Coach Emily Handyside names her squad for 2023-24

Head coach Emily Handyside has included 14 of the Welsh Feathers' 2023 World Cup squad in her 19 players for their 2023-24 international season.

Having missed out on the 2019 Netball World Cup, Wales finished ninth in South Africa last August.

Nia Jones and Bethan Dyke are among the established players who remain involved.

Handyside says the squad is "a compelling mix" of seasoned, emerging, returning and new additions.

"This blend not only enhances our squad's depth and quality, but also fuels our collective ambition for an exciting and successful journey ahead," she added.

Wales Netball head of performance Sara Moore said: "After what has been a busy few years for the Welsh Feathers squad following the CWG 2022 (Commonwealth Games) and NWC 2023 (World Cup) we are now naturally at a time where we have reviewed our progress to date and have a clear vision for the next four years and beyond.

Moore added: "It is important that we gain insights into what each athlete adds to the environment, how they perform as individuals and as part of collective.

"These insights will be integral to our continued progress on the international stage, both in the short, and long term, as we build towards the Netball World Cup in Sydney 2027."

Handyside has also named four training partners to help their development and national team preparations.

Midcourt: Bethan Dyke, Bethan Johnson, Clare Jones, Nia Jones, Ellen Morgan, Shona O'Dwyer, Megan Pilkington.

Defenders: Millie Carter, Lucy Howells, Alex Johnson, Leah Middleton, Caris Morgan, Ella Powell-Davies.

Training partners: Ellie Blackwell, Victoria Booth, Laura Dixon, Celyn Emanuel.
