Yahoo Lifestyle Alex Smith didn't want to 'scare the hell' out of Dak Prescott, reach out right after ankle injury
Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith is fully aware of the similarities between his horrific leg injury and the one Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered on Sunday.
Smith plans to reach out to Prescott soon, but he doesn’t “want to scare the hell out of him.”

Prescott suffered a gruesome ankle injury after being tackled awkwardly in the Cowboys’ 37-34 win against the New York Giants on Sunday and was carted off the field. He had surgery to repair a compound fractured and dislocated ankle.
He was discharged from the hospital Monday and is now recovering at home.
Smith suffered a compound fracture in his leg in 2018, too, though his was worse.
He needed 17 surgeries in total and had to battle a brutal infection in his leg, something doctors nearly amputated at one point. Smith returned to the field for Washington on Sunday — he went 9-of-17 for 37 yards after replacing an injured Kyle Allen — 693 days after his initial injury, which completed one of the better comeback stories in NFL history.
Smith said he was watching the Cowboys game live on Sunday, and knew the injury was a bad one almost instantly.
“I feel like I’ve become a little bit of an expert with the lower leg, so I knew it looked like [Prescott’s] ankle immediately,” Smith said on the Dan Patrick Show. "I’ve been thinking about him a lot. I've checked up on him through our mutual friends and seeing how he’s doing.
“I thought a lot about shooting him a text, but part of me also didn’t want to scare the hell out of him by shooting him a text and getting him thinking he might be headed down this road. I feel like I’ll let the infection risk kind of get out of the way and hopefully reach out here soon.”
