There’s no denying that Amazon Prime has changed the game when it comes to online shopping. The service offers the convenience of next-day (or sometimes same-day) delivery of countless items—not just gifts and books but clothing, household items and fresh groceries.

But that’s the thing about Amazon: the company knows how essential people find Prime delivery, and is steadily increasing prices. What used to be $99 annually became $119, or $12.99 monthly — but as of Feb. 18, those prices have increased to $139 annually or $14.99 monthly.

You have options, though, when it comes to convenient home delivery — and one of them is Walmart+, which offers the same affordable prices in-store that it does for items brought to your house. The subscription costs $98 annually or $12.95 a month, and offers a free 30-day trial so you can test it out yourself. Here’s a sampling of the benefits you'll receive through a Walmart+ membership.

Pantry Staples

Everything you can buy in Walmart’s grocery section is available to have delivered at home, which means you can get everything from frozen pizzas to bottled water to baby food. You can place a big order to replace your weekly grocery run, but you can also order in whatever you unexpectedly ran out of as soon as you realize you need it.

Fresh, Organic Foods

Walmart has an extensive selection of fresh produce, and surprisingly robust offerings when it comes to the same kind of organic foods you'd find at Whole Foods. Get anything from organic avocados and tomatoes to fresh organic blueberries and honeycrisp apples.

Prepared Foods

When you know you’ll be too busy to cook, you can skip the takeout (and those hefty delivery fees) by having prepared foods delivered through Walmart+. The options are wide-ranging, from heat-and-eat pastas like chicken alfredo or spaghetti and meatballs to cook-at-home foods like barbecue chicken flatbread. If you’re not sure when you’ll need it but want to have an easy meal on-hand, order packaged dinners like Giovanni Rana lasagna, Del Real beef barbacoa or Hormel meat loaf with tomato sauce.

Special Occasion Treats

What a world we live in, that we can pull up a website and have a caramel turtle ice cream cake delivered right to our front doors. When it’s time to celebrate, Walmart+ has plenty of ways to do that, including fresh bakery cakes and cupcakes. Better yet, add in a bottle of Prosecco and toast to the special occasion — even if what you’re celebrating is simply the weekend.

Household Essentials

Walmart+ doesn’t just deliver food. You can also get paper goods like toilet paper and paper towels delivered to your house, as well as cleaning supplies and pet food. And if you need to replace a small household appliance like an iron, you can do that, too.

Gifts & Toys

Get clothes, jewelry and shoes delivered to your house with Walmart+ delivery, but what's truly mind-blowing is the huge selection of kids gifts that you can shop for. Shop for a Crayola light board, LOL Surprise dolls, a kids’ karaoke machine, even a T-rex, and have it delivered to you the next day. It's a game-changer for those times you realize your kid's got a birthday party this weekend that you swore was the following week.

But, wait! There's more!

Same day grocery delivery on orders of $35 or more and free shipping with no order minimum is great, but what makes a Walmart+ membership even better are the additional perks that you can't get with Amazon Prime.

Walmart+ members will benefit from mobile scan and go payment options while in store. All you have to do is scan each item with the Walmart app as you shop and head to self checkout when you're finished. Scan the QR code to pay and head to your car. Speaking of your car, a Walmart+ membership will also earn you savings at the tank: subscribers get $.05 per gallon off at any Walmart or Murphy's gas station, and member pricing at Sam's Club gas stations.

To top it off, you'll get exclusive access to special promotions and events (think Black Friday prices on a regular old Tuesday) as well as savings on prescriptions. All this for less than $100 per year. With over 5,000 stores in America, 3,500 of those with fresh groceries, you're never far away from being able to utilize the service, either at home or on the road. That annual fee will pay for itself in no time between the added perks and time savings it'll give you.
