Summertime is heading our way with a whole different menu — tomatoes, summer squash, watermelon, kebabs, chicken and steaks on the grill and salads galore have replaced soups, stews and casseroles. To get this new menu right, our knives need to be on point to get the job done quickly and safely.

Fortunately, this smartly color-coded Cuisinart 12-Piece Color Knife Set, which is incredibly popular with reviewers, just dropped to $15 (was $50) at Walmart.

Made with high-quality stainless steel blades and a nonstick color coating for easy slicing, the set includes an 8-inch chef knife, an 8-inch slicing knife, an 8-inch serrated bread knife, a 7-inch santoku knife, a 6.5-inch utility knife and a 3.5-inch paring knife. You will literally be ready to slice anything.

One reviewer, who noted that this knife set can "cut meat like paper," loves this set so much they started gifting it to family members. "I bought one set for myself and was so impressed that I bought another for my brother for Christmas," they said. "I have a butcher block that belonged to my dad; he had a meat store. I bought a magnetic holder, and the knives are accessible at all times. Love, love them. The different colors helps to make sure I grab the right knife."

Another reviewer loves how this knife set can hold its own against more expensive sets. "These knives are great quality at an incredibly reasonable price," they said. "They are far sharper than much more expensive knives I've owned. Beside, I love the cheerful colors!"

Each knife comes with a matching blade sleeve to prevent dulling — and protect you while you're rummaging though the kitchen drawer. Not only are the jewel tones a fun pop of color, but they also make it a breeze to reach for just the right tool for each task — as well as reduce the risk of cross-contamination during food prep.

On staying power, one reviewer said: "I've been using these knives for a few months now and they are still sharp. I love the rainbow colors and the fact they come with blade covers."

Another reviewer summed it up, saying "I was very excited as to how well these work and how easy the cuts are!! I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery tater cuff surgery and this made chopping up vegetables and meat so much easier!"

Who says meal prep can't be fun? Brighten up your kitchen know with this Cusinart knife set for just $17 before the sale ends.
