'I wake up at night and think of Scotland defeat'

It's fair to say that the Norwegians haven't forgotten that last-gap Scotland win back in June, and they're out to "spoil the party" at Hampden in the final Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday.

Those late goals from Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean still ring in the mind of Norway manager Stale Solbakken, even when he's just trying to get his kip.

"That was probably the sorest defeat you will ever feel. I still wake up at night and think about those last five minutes, but that’s life - you have to get on with it.

"It was very, very damaging. Otherwise, tomorrow's game could have been the final. That speaks for itself.

"[We] must congratulate Scotland on a great campaign, they’ve done really well. They’ve played at a high level. All credit to them, but tomorrow is another game and we will try to have a go again.

Scotland's sensational victory set them on course for an early Euro qualification, leaving the stakes for Sunday's game fairly slim, beyond the outside chance that Steve Clarke's side pip Spain to top spot.

The devastating loss in Oslo still weighs heavy on the Norwegian players too, after looking comfortable from an Erling Haaland penalty.

Celta Vigo forward Jorgen Larsen said: "It’s the most decisive game we’ve played with the national team in a few years, so to lose that in the last minutes has been hard on all of us.

"Everyone expected us to win when we went 1 nil up, but that’s football. It was big set back for us. [We] see this match as a chance for a tiny bit of revenge."
