WAG defends son’s ‘lavish’ 1st birthday party

Rugby league WAG Zoe Marshall has hit out at trolls that might ‘ridicule’ her son’s first birthday party, after sharing images of the lavish bash on Instagram.

Zoe and hubby Benji celebrated their first child Fox’s first birthday on Saturday, and while the plan was originally to have a small BBQ in the park, Zoe admits the event did “snowball” a little.

They couple ended up hosting 100 guests in a hired venue that was decorated with hundreds of balloons, forrest greenery, and fox figurines.

There was a giant orange and black entrance arch, a custom-made fox cake, custom fox cupcakes, and a huge light-up sign that said ‘Fox’.

For the kids there was also a temporary tattoo station, balloon making activities and sports games, while the adults enjoyed a grazing platter.

“I don’t want to be crucified for celebrating my son’s birthday,” Zoe told Confidential.

“I was really cautious about being ridiculed but I thought ‘stuff it’.”

Many of her fans on Instagram loved the party theme.

“A beautiful celebration,” one person commented.

“That is the absolute best party set up I have ever seen,” another added.

Some however thought it was a little bit over the top.

“Oh Fox your mum is not extra at all,” was one response.

“A nice low key event then,” another quipped.

Zoe loved having all their family and friends there on the day.

“This is a celebration for everyone who has been there over the past year,” she told the publication.
