Yahoo Lifestyle Report: Vince Carter will join ESPN as NBA analyst
Vince Carter will still be featured on sports airwaves even after retiring following the 2019-20 season. The 22-year NBA veteran is joining ESPN as an analyst, per a report by the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand.
Carter has background in sportscasting
Carter, 43, has been projected as a top analyst hire once he did retire from the league. He has a minor in communications from North Carolina and participated in the “Sportscasters U” camp through the NBA Players Association, per the Post.
Carter, who retired as a member of the Atlanta Hawks, has also called the Jr. NBA Global Championship on Fox Sports’ networks multiple times. He’s worked for ESPN and Turner Sports.
He joins a growing list of former NBA stars at the company.

Carter enters retirement after record-setting career
Carter said on his “Winging It” podcast in June that he is “officially done with playing basketball professionally.” The 6-foot-5 forward already announced in September 2019 that he would retire at the end of the season, his 22nd in the league. The coronavirus pandemic and early shutdown of the NBA season in March did not change that.
His career has spanned four decades with eight teams that included eight All-Star selections and his iconic Slam Dunk Contest performance in 2000. Carter is 19th on the league’s all-time scoring list with 25,728 points.
After being drafted by the Golden State Warriors fifth overall in 1998, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He spent the first six and a half years with the franchise and still ranks in their all-time top 10 in points scored (fourth), assists (sixth), steals (fifth), blocks (fourth), field goals made (third) and 3-pointers made (fifth).
