Victoria And David Beckham Ring In Their 25th Wedding Anniversary With The Ultimate Throwback Pics
Victoria and David Beckham have still got it after 25 years of marriage, ringing in a major marital milestone in the most Beckham way possible.
The Spice Girl and the former footballer, who tied the knot on July 4, 1999, at a castle in Ireland, re-wore the iconic purple outfits designed by Antonio Berardi that they had donned for their wedding reception.
“Look what we found,” David Beckham wrote in the caption of an Instagram post shared on Thursday that showed the two of them holding hands and sitting in the thrones that had played an integral part in their 1999 nuptials.
While his wife apparently had no problem slipping into her purple dress, the former star athlete appeared to rip part of his suit when he tried it on again in a video shared with followers.
Alongside the photos of the two in their reception outfits, the Beckhams also shared a few throwbacks that showed them transporting their wedding day thrones by plane, writing their wedding vows, and showing off their wedding day looks. There was also a shot of their Damien Hirst-designed wedding cake with nude cake toppers of themselves, of course.
The Beckhams met in 1997 and got engaged only a year later. They welcomed their first child, Brooklyn, in March 1999 and tied the knot just a few months after that.
Brooklyn is now 25 and a married man himself. The Beckhams went on to have three more children: Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper Seven, who turns 13 this month.
The couple have a sense of humor about their relationship and their many years in the public eye.
For their 23rd wedding anniversary, Victoria Beckham took a cheeky shot at critics who’d said they wouldn’t make it.
“They say he isn’t funny, they say I never smile, they said it wouldn’t last,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “Today we celebrate 23 years being married. David you are my everything, I love you so much!!!!”
She also shared some marriage advice in a 2017 Vogue article.
“On marriage: have patience. Bite your tongue. Be supportive. And preserve a bit of mystique,” she said. “Always make time for each other. Because if you don’t, everything will revolve around the children and I’m not sure how sexy that is! And do not forget the person you fell in love with.”
