'Anything can be baconized': Here's exactly how to make that vegan bacon that's all over TikTok

Vegan bacon has been all over TikTok for months, and there's one woman you can thank for that: Chef Tabitha Brown. Brown shared a video on how to make vegan bacon, and it exploded online — one TikTok she created has more than 2 million views.

Brown, who has been vegan for four years, tells Yahoo Life that it took a little tinkering for her to figure out how to master vegan bacon. "When I did, I loved it," she says. "I've been hooked on it."

While Brown says that "anything can be baconized," she likes to make her vegan bacon with trumpet mushrooms and carrots. Want to try it at home? Here's what you'll need:

· 1-2 full-sized carrots

· 3-4 large trumpet mushrooms

· 2 tbsp liquid aminos

· 2 tbsp liquid smoke

· 1 tsp of Sunshine seasoning

· ¼ tsp smoked paprika

· 4 tsp black pepper

· 2 tbsp maple syrup

Once you've cleaned your produce, grab a carrot and thinly shave it using a peeler. "It looks like a little bit of bacon," Brown says. Then, thinly slice your mushrooms. "If you cut it too thick, the texture ain’t going to be right," Brown advises.

But the real star of vegan bacon, Brown says, is the seasoning. She uses her own McCormick Sunshine seasoning, a drool-worthy combination of spices including ginger, mango, pineapple, thyme, red pepper and turmeric. "The seasoning is what it’s all about," she says.

It's quite the blend: The seasoning was so popular, it sold out almost immediately. Don't worry, though: Expect an update in the fall.

Sprinkle the seasoning in a bowl, followed by the maple syrup, liquid aminos and a little bit of liquid smoke. “This is what’s going to give you the seasoning of that bacon," Brown says.

Then, put your prepped vegetables in the mixture and let it sit for a few minutes. “The mushroom’s so great, because it is like a sponge. It just sucks it in there," Brown says.

Once your vegetables have marinated, cook the mushrooms in an air fryer for 12 minutes, and the carrots for five minutes. That's it!

You can enjoy your creation in a BLT, with your favorite breakfast foods or alone as a crunchy snack. Either way, it'll be delicious!
