When is the last time you sanitized your phone? If "I have no idea" or "never?!" are the answers that come to mind, you're far from alone. According to researchers from the University of Arizona, the average cellphone carries 10 times more bacteria than a toilet seat. And while we all (hopefully) wash our hands post-restroom, many people rarely sanitize their phones.
To this end, it's no wonder the tech sanitizer industry is booming. In an attempt to bacteria-proof every aspect of our lives during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many companies are churning out UV light sanitizers as a means of germ protection.
Phone sanitizing devices use UV-C light to kill germs without liquid or chemical cleaning products. UV-C light has been used for more than 100 years to kill microorganisms, and studies have shown it can prevent the spread of some harmful diseases.
And while UV-C technology doesn't replace masks or social distancing as protection against the novel coronavirus, it does offer users some peace of mind regarding the bacteria they're carrying on their devices.
If you're considering investing in UV-C technology, there are a few different options you can choose from. Many newer models offer charge points or wireless charging technology to boost your device batteries, and some light sanitizers are even large enough to fit tablets, books, and other potential germ-laden products.
To keep your phone and other devices germ-free, check out these eight highly-rated UV-C light phone sanitizers.
