Somehow it's already December, and the holidays are upon us. So whether you're doing some last-minute sale shopping or looking to get started on your gifting, it's time to actually think about your shipping strategy. Because that's what it is—a strategy.
While you can never really start holiday shopping too early (some of us even started this summer), you can be too late. Let's be honest: the "your gift is on the way, I promise" excuse only flies so many times. Don't be that person this year.
To help you out, we took at look at USPS's holiday shipping deadlines and are laying them out for you, simple and clear. These are the recommended send-by dates for expected delivery before December 25.
USPS 2024 Holiday Shipping Deadlines for Contiguous U.S. States
USPS Ground Advantage Service: December 18
First-Class Mail Service: December 18
Priority Mail Service: December 19
Priority Mail Express Service: December 21
Keep in mind the post office will be closed on December 25 and mail will not be delivered.
Curious about other shipping carriers? UPS marks December 19 as the last day for 3-day Select, December 20 as the deadline for second-day Air, and December 23 as the very final deadline for next-day Air packages. For FedEx, the last day for Ground shipping and Home Delivery is December 17, and December 23 is the deadline for one-day shipping. Keep in mind that you'll pay a premium for overnight shipping and likely wait in a long line!
Happy shopping!
