Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 25 Iranian-made Shahed drones and launched two Kh-59 cruise missiles overnight; 18 drones and a missile were shot down by the air defense forces, the Air Force reported on Telegram on Dec. 1.
Russians launched the drones from two directions: Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. The cruise missiles were launched from the airspace of occupied Kherson Oblast.
The main direction of the strike was the south and east of Ukraine.
Air defenses were engaged in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, the Air Force said.
Anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.
Air alerts were announced at night in several regions of Ukraine due to the Shahed attack. Initially, the kamikaze drones attacked the southern and eastern regions, and in the morning, the north of Ukraine.
