UFC Fight Island 2 results: Figueiredo submits Benavidez for flyweight title

A new champion was crowned Saturday at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi as the Flash Forum hosted the UFC’s fourth title fight in 8 days.

In their rematch for the vacant flyweight title, Deiveson Figueiredo used his power and his submission skills to finish Joseph Benavidez in the first round. Figueiredo locked in the rear naked choke late in the round after dropping Benavidez with punches to become UFC’s first Brazilian flyweight champion.
