‘Horsing around’: Bizarre scenes in Sydney
Uber has spoken out after a man wearing an UberEats branded delivery uniform was filmed using a bizarre mode of transport to get customer's meals to their door.
TikTok user @jessielouiset shared a short clip on Wednesday of a delivery worker riding a horse through the streets of Paddington, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Pedestrians can be seen stopping to take videos and laughing at the out of the ordinary scene unfolding on the busy shopping strip.
An Uber spokesperson said they were aware of the incident and are currently investigating the matter.
“There’s no horsing around when it comes to safety on our platform,” the spokesperson said.
“We’re aware which neeeegihbourhood this took place in, and this ain’t Texas, it’s Paddington.
“We hold ‘em to a higher safety standard here, so we’ll continue to investigate this matter.”
It is unconfirmed whether the man was an Uber Eats delivery partner or someone filming for a skit.
The video has attracted 389,000 views in just 13 hours with people from all over the globe reacting to the sight.
“See we do have Uber horse in Australia,” one person said.
“Even that’s too much horse power for ya Uber driver,” a second wrote.
“If my Uber eats isn’t getting delivered by horse I don’t want it,” another said.
Uber Eats Australia has been contacted for comment.
The wild video emerged just two weeks after Uber posted a video of a white horse to its official Instagram account.
“We’ve got some news,” the post said.
Beyonce fans rushed to the comments to confirm whether the announcement was linked to her highly-anticipated album Cowboy Carter due to be released the following day.
The ridesharing app posted the following day saying they would offer a discount to any fans travelling to a listening party that day.
