Tyla Is Being Called Out For Her "Arrogance" After She Appeared To Ask Halle Bailey To Hold Her VMA During Her Acceptance Speech
Last night, Halle Bailey and Lil Nas X presented Tyla with the Best Afrobeats Award at the 2024 VMAs.
The trophy was so heavy that Tyla requested their assistance while she gave her acceptance speech. "You guys know me and holding awards. I'm not strong enough," she began, laughing.
"Can you hold it for me?" she asked, seemingly referring to Halle, who was standing closest to her. But when she attempted to hand over the award, Halle stood still, leading Lil Nas X to take it.
Both Halle and Tyla saying “I’m not holding it” is taking me out ☠️😭😭😭pic.twitter.com/Bf89IpJZnZ

Tyla seems kinda rude. Pushed your assistant & then shooed your hand when Halle asked if you wanted the envelope? Hmmmmm

And now, Tyla and Halle have both weighed in on the internet drama.
Taking to X, the "Water" singer denied asking Halle to hold her award and slammed internet users for making the whole thing "weird."
"Y'all make everything weird…," Tyla wrote, insisting she was not asking her "girl" Halle to hold her award.
"We just girls 💅🏽," she continued, telling fans to "STFU" because "I WON A VMAAAA."
Y'all make everything weird… I was not asking my girl Halle… We just girls 💅🏽 , STFU I WON A VMAAAA

"Exactly ❤️❤️," Halle replied, before congratulating Tyla again on her big win, which also happened to be her first-ever VMA.
