TVLine Items: Fire Country Spinoff Names Showrunner, OLTL Fave Exits Y&R and More

CBS’ Fire Country spinoff has found its deputy.

Matt Lopez (ABC’s Promised Land) has been named showrunner of Sheriff Country, TVLine has confirmed.

More from TVLine

As previously reported, the offshoot centers on Morena Baccarin’s “straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Fire Country‘s Diane Farr), who investigates criminal activity as she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater while contending with her ex-con father and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter.”

Sheriff Country will make its debut during the 2025-26 TV season. Our sister site Deadline was first to report Lopez’s hire.
