TV star called out for editing skirts onto women in Instagram photo

Reality television star Jana Duggar has been labelled ‘hypocritical’ after seemingly editing skirts onto two women wearing shorts in the background of her photo.

The snap was posted by the devout Christian on Wednesday and features Jana wearing a knee-length skirt in-line with her family’s modest dress code.

Jana is the eldest daughter of the Duggar clan who first found fame on 19 Kids and Counting which profiled the life of their famously large and religious brood.

Among the family’s most notable restrictions is a dress code which sees all of its female members to not wear pants and instead opt for skirts or dresses which are at least knee-length.

Covering up

Now, Jana has come under fire for implementing this standard on bystanders and is accused of taking issue with the outfits of a pair of women behind her at the Tontitown Grape Festival in Arkansas.

According to followers, the photo was altered before posting in order to cover up the women standing behind her, who appear to be initially wearing shorts.

“If Jana doesn’t want to share a photo that shows people whom she considers to be dressed immodestly then that’s absolutely fine, it is her page and she is allowed to share what she sees fit,” one critic began.

“But what is not acceptable is imposing her own personal standards on other people without their consent by editing their appearance in such a way.

“The Duggars expect to have their beliefs and standards respected, to not extend the same basic courtesy to other people is hypocritical to say the least.”

Two others pointed out that there is somebody photographed just behind Duggar who is actually displaying his middle finger, and maybe even lifting up his shirt.

“You do realize there’s a boy in the background lifting his shirt and flicking you off right??” one commented.

“I guess you were too occupied with covering the girls thighs you didn’t notice.... How sad.”

However, others’ comments flooding Duggar’s photo were simply in awe of the young woman and her personal style.

“Jana. You are a beautiful young lady and you always present yourself as a decently clothed and lovely young lady. It's so rare to see young lady with grace and style,” one fan commented.

Another said, “My favourite Duggar without a doubt.”
