Last night Troye Sivan gave the first glimpse of another upcoming remix of his single Rush, which will feature UK pop artist PinkPantheress and Hyunjin of the Korean boy band Stray Kids.
Sharing the news on TikTok, the 28-year-old Australian singer danced around to a teaser snippet of the upcoming reworking, which will be released at 9pm Pacific Time this evening. Set some alarms, UK fans: that’s 5am in the morning our time.
Listeners were immediately thrilled by the news. “Wait is this real??!?!?” commented one fan on the video. “He did it y’all,” commented another. “Letsgoooo,” said another.
PinkPantheress also responded, sharing a screenshot of one of her own older tweets in a TikTok. The grab shows her celebrating Sivan’s new single Rush back when it was originally released. “Troye sivan’s new song is toooooo tooooo good,” she wrote last month. “Another successful manifestation,” she added in the new video’s caption, while also teasing her verse from the upcoming reworking of the track.
“So excited for you guys to hear the rush remix,” said PinkPantheress under the video.
Rush was released on July 13, with a music video released the same day. According to Pink News, the name of the track was partly inspired by the name of a well-known brand of the drug poppers.
Upon its release, the music video received some online criticism for failing to portray a wide range of body types. Speaking to Billboard on July 18, Sivan said: “I definitely hear the critique... To be honest, it just wasn’t a thought we had. We just made the video, and there wasn’t a ton of thought put behind that.”
On August 18 Sivan released a Rush remix EP, featuring further remixes from American rapper Big Freedia, DJ duo Punctual, electronic artist Tom Santa, and American singer-songwriter Leland.
His third studio album Something To Give Each Other is set to be released on October 13.
“I didn’t mean to take 5 years to make this album – Bloom tour happened (lmk if you came), then i started working on it, then cockbig19 [COVID-19], then The Idol, always working on the album in all the moments between..and now here we are,” he said under an Instagram post. “Enough excuses now. Enough saying ‘soon’, this is for YOU and it starts NOWWWW”.
Sivan also described the upcoming album on Instagram as “the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dance-floor, a 2-hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer”.
“Party after party, after party after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that,” he said.
Something To Give Each Other will be released on October 13
