What I Thought About Dunkin's Potion Macchiato

After making my way to my local Dunkin’ and placing my order for a medium Iced Potion Macchiato and the Spider Specialty Donut, I prepared my tastebuds. Upon receiving my goodies, I was immediately struck by the vibrant purple hue of the Potion Macchiato. According to the menu description, the drink features flavors of toasted marshmallow and ube—the iconic purple yam—and boy, did it deliver big in the flavor department.

My first sip was filled with the unmistakable vanilla-y taste of toasted marshmallows, followed by the subtle creamy nuttiness of the ube. To my surprise, the beverage wasn’t as sweet as I anticipated. Instead, it was pretty nuanced and had a nice balance of flavors.

Beyond being pretty to look at, it actually tasted really good! I wasn't sure if I was being tricked by the visuals or if the drink was really that delicious, so I went back and tried a hot version and can confirm that it’s just that good. The only downside to ordering the hot version is that you don't get to see the spectacular purple color.

If you really want to lean into spooky season, I'd recommend doing what I did and grab a spider speciality donut. The revamped version of the Halloween classic features a bright purple glaze, hand-frosted legs and eyes, and a chocolate donut hole in the center. A new Halloween MUNCHKINS Bucket that features Halloween-themed donut holes covered in chocolate and orange sprinkles is on the menu, too.

The Potion Macchiato and other seasonal treats are available now for a limited time, so you should make a run to your nearest Dunkin’ before they disappear for good. My crystal ball says: I’ll see you there bestie!
