Travis Kelce's Teammate Saves Young Fan—and the Terrifying Moment Was Caught on Video

Tershawn Wharton, No. 98 of the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce's teammate, recently became a hero off-the-field after a frightening incident involving a young fan took place at an NFL game over the weekend.

Just after securing a victory against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 24, the team was walking back into the stadium when the defensive tackle's quick instincts rescued a kid from potentially devastating injuries.

In new fan-captured video footage from the unbelievable moment, several supporters of all ages could be seen in the stands, wearing team merch and holding up signs. In particular, one little boy in the clip donning a No. 32 Nick Bolton Chiefs jersey was too close to the edge, and ended up tumbling down over the barricade.

Luckily, Wharton acted with haste upon seeing the child falling, quickly rescuing and catching him before he hit the ground.

People can be heard audibly gasping in the video, surprised at what had happened, as a man on-camera sternly cautioned, "Go back to your seats—everybody back to your seats!"

"A defensive lineman made the most important catch of the week," the clip was captioned on X (formerly Twitter).

Football fans flew into the comments, both praising the pro athlete for the catch and bashing the stadium usher for allowing the mishap to even take place.

"Great catch, Wharton!" one exclaimed, while another commended his "Great reflex and a winners catch."

"Nice work my friend," a third applauded.

Meanwhile, others were disappointed in the support staff on-hand, writing things like, "Usher had literally one job," "The security guard needs to pick a new line of work, like yesterday," and "That usher is getting fired."

Still, some couldn't help but focus on the lack of functional railing at the stadium: "Well that’s gonna get a barrier installed there."
