Travis Kelce Revealed 'Top Tips for Being a Standout WAG' Years Before Taylor Swift Romance

Travis Kelce may have drafted the ultimate playbook for the wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of professional athletes, as years-old comments he made are regaining attention online.

In the resurfaced clip dated September 2016, the Kansas City tight end is asked a few questions regarding the presence, behavior and attire of those dating NFL stars or other sports pros.

"If you're dating a professional athlete, I do not believe, at least for me, that you have to go to all the games," he shared at the time and, ironically enough, Swift has notably missed out on a few games this season, further fueling criticism about their relationship. However, if this past footage means anything, it affirms that the NFL star doesn't take her absence to heart, as he explained that it's a busy schedule to keep and he doesn't "even expect my parents and my friends to make every single game."

But when romantic partners do show up to the games, the NFL star said he expects them to really play the part, telling interviewers: "I need her to cheer when we're doing awesome, just to make sure that look is being presented to everyone."

Speaking of presentation, how Kelce's girlfriends dress also matters–but not in the way fans may think. When asked if team colors are a requirement at games, he shrugged it off as pretty optional.

"It's all fun and games for me," the 34-year-old shared at the time, "But I'd rather have my girl look absolutely gorgeous in something that she's comfortable in." For what it's worth, Swift has found a way to stylishly incorporate the Chiefs logo, colors and nods into her regular wardrobe at games, which has probably earned her a bunch of brownie (or Pop-Tarts) points with the Super Bowl champ.

Kelce saved what's arguably the most important tips for last, suggesting that WAGs need to be able to cope with fame and fans and know how to handle the post-game.

"Being around the Chiefs Kingdom in Kansas City, it gets crazy and it gets hectic, and a lot of attention is on me and if she's on my side, it's gonna be on her, too," he warned.

The New Heights podcaster continued, clarifying that when the game is over, the last thing any athlete wants to do is discuss it with their boo. "There's so much focus on the actual game that when the game is over with, all you want to do is not talk about the game, not even think about football," he said, adding that at the end of a long day on the field, all he looks forward to is just being "a person on the street enjoying a dinner with family or just a drink with friends."
