Although the infrared video is a huge upgrade from the brand’s previous model, some of the camera’s most noteworthy features include two-way audio communication. This allows you to talk back to visitors and people in your home. Additionally, the device has customizable motion detection so you can choose hot spot areas that you want to focus on and would like to receive alerts for regularly.

The weather-resistant camera also includes a higher image resolution at 1080p and can capture live recordings. As a bonus, it has free cloud storage and works with Alexa. For example, you can add voice control to the device by purchasing the camera in a package with the Echo Show 5.

But what really caught our attention is that the Blink XT2 doesn’t require any fancy wire installation. In fact, the camera runs on two AA lithium batteries which last two years, according to the product description. So, if you want to want to move the camera into a different room, you can do so with relative ease.

In order to use the device, create an account on the Blink app and plug in the sync module. After you’ve done this, insert your two AA batteries into the camera and you’re good to go.

For those who want to keep a close eye on their pets or animals nearby, the Blink XT2 is a “great” option, according to one reviewer.

“I wasn’t sure how well it would work, but it picks up rabbits, raccoons and deer all eating together,” they wrote. “It does a great job of alerting us to anyone at our front door, and I can’t recommend them enough. If you want to watch animals, they’re great.

Another Amazon shopper mentioned that despite being skeptical of a battery-operated camera, the video quality was “excellent.”

“The night vision is just as impressive,” the reviewer wrote. “I was concerned at first, using a camera that is battery powered. The app has been useful in recommending ways to extend the battery life. You have to be willing to spend some time practicing with the different settings, but with a little effort, you can get just what you need.”
