Harry Potter fans are always freaking out about something — and right now, it’s Tom Felton’s grandpa.

Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter films, has been rewatching the series lately. And, much to the delight of his fans, he’s been sharing his reactions live on Instagram.

During a recent viewing session, Felton re-watched part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, during which he revealed a “secret” detail that many fans weren’t aware of.

As it turns out, Felton’s grandpa made a surprise appearance in the movie.

Felton’s grandpa, Nigel Anstey, is not an actor. In fact, he’s an acclaimed British geophysicist. However, he somehow ended up appearing in his grandson’s movie — as an unnamed Hogwarts professor.

It’s easy to see why: Anstey, with white hair and a long, white beard, looks every bit the part of a wise, elderly wizard.

Felton has shared the trivia about his grandfather before, but the information is going viral yet again — largely thanks to the actor’s reaction when seeing it live.

“That’s my grandfather! On the far right now! … Good lord!” Felton exclaimed in his Instagram video.

Harry Potter fans found the moment particularly heartwarming, with many calling Felton’s reaction “adorable” or “amazing.”

“I just saw the video of you pointing him out multiple times and I almost cried,” one Instagram user wrote.

“It’s great that you show so much pride and love for your family,” another wrote.

“Wow! That’s amazing,” another added.

Felton’s original reaction took place when watching the first scene at Hogwarts’ “Great Hall,” where all the students gather before being sorted into their houses. As Cosmopolitan pointed out, Anstey appears in two more scenes during the film, including at a quidditch match.

The reveal about Felton’s grandpa is just the latest Harry Potter secret to go viral online. Earlier during quarantine, one TikTok user shocked viewers after revealing a “Mandela Effect” moment from the film — a scene that even some super fans claimed they never remembered watching.
