Toddler's Confusion Turns Into Epic Full-Blown Tears Upon Realizing New Baby Brother Is 'Real'
When preparing to welcome a second child, many parents dream about what the moment will be like when their first baby and their new baby finally come face to face—no matter how old that first baby might be. In some cases, the future big brother or sister is at an age where they understand that a new sibling is on the way and join in on the excitement, but for families who have children who are closer together in age, it's not always easy to explain the major changes that are happening. Even under the best of circumstances, it's not always love at first sight for new siblings.
Some little ones are going to take a bit longer to process the fact that they aren't the only baby in the house anymore, and reality seems to have finally hit the brand new big sister in the TikTok video below. This whole baby brother thing just got way too real!
On Sunday, December 1, new mom of two, @gsampson21, shared a video of how her older daughter reacted to meeting her baby brother for the first time. Let's just say plenty of people out there who struggled adjusting to sibling life can relate!
The big sis in question is still a baby herself—according to Mom's caption, she's now got two kids under the age of two, which can certainly be an extra challenge. At first, she just stared at the baby in front of her, looking totally fascinated by him, if not a bit confused. He was yawning a bit, moving around a little with his eyes closed, and then... a moment of terror struck.
Her baby brother had to sneeze, and for most of us, a newborn sneeze is probably the cutest thing in the world. But unfortunately for this little lady, it reminded her that the baby in front of her is, in fact, the real deal, and she immediately burst into tears. Poor kiddo!
Fortunately, commenters had plenty of sympathy to lend her. One person wrote, "This is a huge adjustment. Sweet girl just needs some reassurance and time to get used to being a big sis." Another wrote, "she was unsure, but the sneeze was the dealbreaker."
She'll get used to her new brother and her new role in the family soon, and I don't doubt that she'll grow to love having a built in best friend around who's so close to her age. Just let this guy get a little bit bigger, and I have a feeling these two will be running the house.
