Man experiences ‘spooky’ encounter while alone in Walmart parking lot: ‘This freaked us out’

A TikTok user is going viral after sharing the strange phenomenon he witnessed while driving home from work one night.

The user, who goes by the name Blake on social media, shared the “creepy” experience during a video post in late June. In the clip, the TikToker shows his late-night view from inside a Walmart parking lot, where dozens of street lamps seem to be flashing rapidly at once.

“Saw this on my way [home] from work. Shiz was creepy as hell,” he wrote.

The video, which is appropriately soundtracked by some pretty unsettling music, shows Blake’s perspective as he looks around the parking lot and watches seemingly every lamp flash at once.

Several commenters seemed fairly freaked out by the situation, sharing their confusion and suggesting all sorts of otherworldly causes — comparisons ranged from “The Matrix” and “Stranger Things” to theories about alien abductions and more.

“I’m scared and I’m just watching the video,” one user wrote.

“That’s scary as hell,” another added.

Others wanted to get to the bottom of things, suggesting that there was possibly a power surge, an outage or someone testing the lights. Similar instances — such as this 2015 incident in Detroit — have been the result of simple mechanical problems.

A few users even wrote that they’d witnessed similar phenomenons in their own corners of the world.

“Omg my girl and I saw that in a parking lot a few months back. Freaked us out,” one user wrote.

“I’ve seen this exact scene 2 months ago in Monterey, [Calif.],” another added.

Plenty of commenters took the video lightly as well, joking about how difficult it would be to navigate a lot of nauseating, blinking lights.

“Omg I’m would spew and not be able to walk a straight line,” one user wrote.
