TikTok user angers dad after revealing elaborate prank: ‘Not something to joke about’

A young woman is going viral on TikTok after showing just how far her dad would go to get her out of a speeding ticket.

Mackenzie Smith shared the prank, which seemingly didn’t go over well with her father, on July 20. The video has now received more than 7.5 million views, begins with Smith calling her dad and pretending she’s been pulled over.

“I got pulled over,” she tells her dad. “I told [the cop] that you fell over and that’s why I was speeding. And now he’s following me home.”

The TikToker then asks her dad to “lay on the floor and act like [his] knee is hurt,” just in case the “officer” comes inside.

“He’s not gonna come in,” Smith’s dad protests.

Smith, however, pushes back, saying she’s sure the cop will come inside to make sure she wasn’t lying. Ultimately her dad caves in.

“This is not something to joke around about,” he allegedly texted her after the call. “I hope you’re serious.”

When Smith gets home, her dad is laying on a staircase, clutching his ankle. She asks him what’s wrong, seemingly trying to continue the joke.

“I think I [hurt] my ankle. I tripped,” he tells her.

“Well there’s no cop,” Smith tells him suddenly.

The TikToker’s dad is visibly angry at the realization, staring straight at his daughter and asking, “Are you kidding me?”

Smith’s father might not have liked the prank, but plenty of TikTok users did. The video has since received more than 7.5 million views, with several commenters praising the dad’s commitment.

“Father of the year,” one user wrote.

“HIS ACTING WAS OSCAR WORTHY THO,” another added.

“Your dad is a real one,” another wrote.

Several other TikTok users have attempted the prank, too. One video, by a user named eyelivia, features a 23-year-old asking her mom to fake a hip injury.

Just like Smith’s dad, eyelivia’s mom follows through.
