Food expert reacts to 'hyped-up' junk food item: 'I wouldn't pay $9'

Tim Cheung is the curator behind TikTok’s bayareafoodies. Cheung usually shares his interesting finds like the best Mexican tortas, deep-fried Korean hot dogs and the most authentic Thai food in San Francisco. But Cheung is a foodie of the people and doesn’t shy away from recommending affordable prepackaged goods like Maruchen ramen and a 27-pound bucket of Costco macaroni and cheese.

Cheung reviewed a new and much-hyped pantry product: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Mac ‘n Cheese. The box comes with spiral pasta and the cheese powder is all the Flamin’ Hot goodness we’ve come to expect. Cheung added jalapenos, butter and milk for an extra kick. He even grated some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos as a topping and added parsley for color contrast. The bright red noodles certainly live up to their namesake.

“It was pretty good. I wouldn’t pay $9 for it though. Maybe if it was $3,” Cheung concluded.

However, it’s important to note that the actual price of the product is $0.96 at Walmart. So he’s actually willing to pay three times its retail price. There’s a bit of price gouging on other platforms because the snack is almost always sold out.

“It’s really good, I tried it. The cheese is the best,” one TikTok user wrote.

“This is my kind of snack,” another wrote.

“It’s so good,” someone added.
