Tiffany Haddish Says She Was Once Turned Down from Visiting the White House for Being 'Too Controversial'
"Somebody said I was controversial - can you believe it?" Tiffany Haddish said
Tiffany Haddish finally made it to the White House.
Comedian and actress Haddish, 44, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, June 12, to promote her new book I Curse You with Joy. During her interview with host Jimmy Kimmel, Haddish reflected on her visit to the White House in May — but not before she claimed the executive branch once previously disinvited her from visiting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
"Yes, I got invited to the White House, which I was like, 'What? Y'all invited me?' Very first time at the White House," Haddish told Kimmel, 56. "I was invited a few years back but then they said no, that I'm too controversial."
"I don't know, that's the email I got back though," she said, after the late night talk show host asked whether that story was true. "Somebody said I was controversial — can you believe it?"
"Well, I guess you're not controversial anymore, because they invited you back," Kimmel said, to which Haddish joked, "They needed some color at the White House."
"No, it's Jewish heritage month last month so I was invited because I'm Jewish and it was so nice," Haddish added. "They took me on a tour because I said I want to see this, I've been paying money for it all these years — I want to see what my tax dollars are doing."
Haddish described touring various parts of the White House and meeting President Joe Biden, whom she joked she previously believed was "not a real human."

"I've been thinking he might be an android or some robot ... so when he came up to me I was like 'Where the buttons at? Where they charging him?' ... I didn't see anything, and he came up to me and I said, 'Hi, I'm Tiffany Haddish,' and he goes, 'I know who you are,' and he started leaning in. I was like, 'Oh, he's failing. System failing! System failing!' "
The show displayed a video of Haddish and Biden's meeting, and Haddish poked fun at the way she and Biden, 80, appeared to touch heads during their meeting.
"At first I was thinking, 'Is he trying to put his unicorn horn up against my unicorn horn?' And then I was like, 'No, wait a minute. This is the new white man's way of figuring out if you got a wig on,' " she said.
