Thomas Doherty says a “Tell Me Lies” fan jumped out of a moving car to get his number — and he gave it to her
"I mean, you go to those lengths, it feels weird [not to]."
Never underestimate the will of a horny woman on a mission.
Thomas Doherty learned that the hard way when a fan of his Hulu series Tell Me Lies went to life-threatening lengths just to get his phone number. And what was he gonna say? 'No'?
He probably should've, but the Scottish actor couldn't help but be impressed. Or perhaps frightened.
"Some girl jumped out of an Uber in the middle of the road to get my number," Doherty told PEOPLE. "I gave it to her. I mean, you go to those lengths, it feels weird [not to]."
The fan did end up texting him, but Doherty reportedly played coy before admitting they never actually met up.
"I don't know, I was busy," he claimed. Which sounds like classic ghosting language, but perhaps it was for the best. Jumping out of a moving vehicle to get a stranger's number is already a major red flag.
"That was kind of crazy," he added about the encounter. "And I kept getting sent these TikTok [edits] and I didn't have TikTok so I had to download TikTok."

Doherty joined the Hulu series in season 2 as Leo, a lantern-jawed heartthrob just returned from studying abroad in France who takes an immediate interest in Lucy (Grace Van Patten) after meeting her at a party (see clip above).
"It's an amazing show," Doherty said. "I mean, [creator] Meaghan Oppenheimer really killed it. She really, really did. And you've got such an amazing cast in Grace Van Patten and Jackson White. Such talented people. They're so fun."

The second season of Tell Me Lies — based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Carola Lovering that follows eight tempestuous years in the life of couple Lucy and Stephen (White)— premiered Sept. 4 on Hulu, with its finale airing Oct. 16.
The show features a lot of canoodling and hooking up, which White explained can get a little tricky with an intimacy coordinator only there for one week of filming.
"There'd be like a sex week, and there'd be like sex scenes all day long," White said on his parents Katey Sagal and Kurt Sutter's podcast Slice of Pie. "There'd be like an intimacy coordinator running from set to set because Lucy (real-life girlfriend Grace Van Patten) and Leo (Thomas Doherty) were doing it, but then Bree (Catherine Missal) and Oliver (Tom Ellis) were doing it, and it would be like, sex days."
