The rumour mill has kicked into overdrive for one of Channel Ten’s biggest shows, as whispers surrounding a feud between The Project’s co-hosts continue to swirl.

Last week it was reported that Lisa Wilkinson had “shuffled off the set” after Peter Helliar made a comment during the show’s 10th anniversary special.

Now it’s been said that ‘resentment’ and ‘nasty barbs’ regarding Lisa continue to fuel tension behind the scenes.

“There’s been a level of resentment for months about her [Lisa’s] role, because she really isn’t a team player, and I think that sentiment boiled over on the night,” an alleged Channel Ten source told Woman’s Day.

The insider also claims ‘nasty barbs’ have been at the centre of conflict.

“Lisa is highly sensitive regarding her public profile and, while she tried to keep relationships civil off camera, she is furious that her co-hosts are allowing nasty barbs to continue on air,” they said.

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel Ten for comment.

Last week, a report claimed tensions were high behind the scenes of The Project after Peter Helliar’s comment to Lisa was made in the company of co-hosts Waleed Aly and Carrie Bickmore during the show’s 10th anniversary TV special.

According to The Australian, Lisa “shuffled off the set” of the program a little while after Peter told her on air, “We love having you on our show”.

The publication claimed “she was not sighted again, either during the 90-minute-plus extravaganza or the after-party”.

However, neither Lisa or the other stars of the show have confirmed this was the case.

Lisa famously jumped ship from Channel Nine to Channel Ten after quitting the Today show in late 2017 after a reported pay dispute.

She’s gone on to host Sunday Project and conduct a series of high-profile interviews on the show, and filled in on the weeknight desk as well.

Lisa’s European holiday

In the meantime, Lisa has brushed off the drama, taking a break from the Channel Ten news and current affairs show and enjoying a European holiday.

Taking to Instagram, the 59-year-old TV star has shared an array of stunning snaps from her getaway in Italy, and whether it be the beautiful sunsets or picturesque waterside locations, Lisa has proved she’s having a ball abroad.
