They’re quickly becoming fan favourites on The Block but according to reports, the other contestants are furious after ‘stylish grandads’ Mitch and Mark’s secret past was exposed.
An insider told Woman’s Day that the other teams couldn’t believe it when they found out that 56-year-old Mitch Edwards and 57-year-old Mark McKie from Sydney, have 15 years experience flipping properties.
They got an even bigger shock when they learned that the pair had renovated numerous properties in Sydney’s inner-east with budgets between $30,000 to $250,000 before taking on Melbourne’s The Oslo Hotel with the rest of the gang.
“It was a big point of conversation behind the scenes,” the insider told the publication.
“The other couples definitely felt it was unfair.
“The last thing you want to find out is that you’re up against a team who essentially do this for a living.”
While they might have renovated a number of properties, the loveable duo have admitted they’ve never actually been on the tools before but they’re not afraid to learn how to do it now.
The revelation certainly hasn’t stopped them from capturing the audiences’ hearts, with The Block’s Facebook page being filled with love for the couple.
“Love it... there becoming one of my favourite teams ... both of nsw teams are my favourites at the moment,” one person said while another said: “I 💖 Mark and Mitch such legends.”
The Block returned to Channel Nine at 7pm on Sunday.
