Coming up with new, tasty, healthy meal ideas can be a chore, especially when going out to buy takeaway outside your 5km is not an option. But thanks to a savvy food blogger and a $2.49 Aldi item, it just got a whole lot easier.

Mum of two Cassie Jean shares her family-friendly recipes, meal plans and ideas on her Instagram page my_familyeats and with a recent Aldi special buy, she hit a home run with many other mums who follow her page.

The Vietnamese rice paper wrappers, $2.49 from Aldi, not only provide the base to a healthy and quick meal but also a favourite takeaway at home at a time when it is harder to get for some families, with lockdowns in many areas.

"Simple, delicious, fresh dinner! We are making and eating them as we go!" Cassie says on her Insta post.

Cassie also takes all the stress out of how to make them with her quick and easy methods and ingredient ideas to ensure a perfect result.

"Simply prep your fillings (you can use whatever you like - we are having spring onion, capsicum, carrot, baby cucumber, coriander, noodles, roast chicken & Japanese Mayo). Soak your rice paper in warm water for approx 30 seconds. Lay it on a clean tea towel. Put your fillings in the middle. Fold your ends in & roll like a wrap," she says on the post. "I am having soy sauce mixed with chilli sauce as a dipping sauce!"

Fans on her Instagram page loved the idea and there were almost 250 comments on Cassie's post on the Aldi Mums Facebook page last we looked.

"These look delicious. I’ve been meaning to make these. 😍" home_baker_mum said.

"This looks like it's going to taste delicious," one mum said on Facebook.

"Thank you for the filling idea. I bought the wrappers but was unsure how to fill them," another added.

While it may not be the most complex of recipes, sometimes it is the simplest ideas that are the best and many facebook followers were simply grateful for a new idea for a meal other than the same ones they are doing at home.

It's also a great one to get kids involved with, whether a weekend activity or as a break from home-schooling for those stuck indoors.

And let's face it, we all need more distractions for the whole family at the moment!
