My dad always tells me, "You are your first line of defense," meaning to always be extremely cautious about your safety to help avoid potential risks and dangers. This includes when traveling and especially when traveling alone.

For me, that means constantly paying attention to my surroundings, staying in recommended places, going inside before dark, and double-locking my doors. The list goes on.
