What's The Rudest Thing You've Seen Or Heard Someone Do At The Movie Theater?
Though the true cause of death remains unclear, I think we can all agree that movie theater etiquette is dead. D-E-A-D, dead. Gone are the days of enjoying a movie without people on their phones, loud whisperers, unprompted sing-alongs, and other obnoxious behaviors. No wonder people are turning to streaming; at least they can be obnoxious or unbothered in their own homes. But those of us still brave enough to attend screenings in theaters often spend the commute home grumbling about the rudeness of fellow patrons.
Perhaps you went to see a newly-released movie musical in theaters with some friends. You knew the theater would be packed with eager fans, but you didn't expect an entire row of those eager fans to stand up and perform each musical number in the aisles and at the front of the theater. It was incredibly distracting, self-indulgent, and rude. Other audience members shouted at them to sit down, but they giggled and paraded around like they owned the place.
Maybe you went to see a movie that was known for having some fairly intense and graphic sex scenes. This didn't phase you, but apparently, one particular couple was really impacted. You began to hear loud kissing and rustling behind you and turned in time to spot them feverishly making out and caressing one another. They weren't even tucked away in a back corner; they were literally sitting in the middle of the theater, surrounded by other patrons. You heard someone else grumble, "Knock it off!" and turned back in time to see someone throw popcorn at the now sheepish couple.
Or maybe you went to the midnight premiere of a movie you were extremely pumped to see. The theater was crowded and buzzing with excitement. As the movie started, a woman in one of the front rows whipped out her phone and held it up. You thought perhaps she was just snapping a photo of the title, but no, she kept her phone angled at the screen. You quickly realized she was filming. You kept thinking she'd stop any minute or someone would tell her to put her phone away, but she managed to film the entire freaking movie.
