After five years of marriage and 12 together, NRL power couple Teigan and Alex Mckinnon are separating.

In a statement shared on Monday, Teigan stressed that she and Alex, “are navigating this period of change together privately,” and today she is focusing on a special milestone for her twin girls.

The mum-of-three shared a beautiful photo montage of twins Violet and Audrey on Instagram to celebrate their first birthday.

“Happy First Birthday to our littlest loves!” she wrote, and was quickly flooded with messages of love and well wishes from her followers.

Teigan and Alex, 30, also celebrated the occasion together at the weekend with a beautiful first birthday party at a park.

They had a gorgeous rainbow birthday cake and posed for family photos together.

As well as one-year-olds Violet and Audrey, Teigan and Alex also share three-year-old daughter Harriet, who was born a year after they got married in 2017.

The pair shared almost identical statements on social media on Monday confirming that they are separating and asking for privacy.

“We are together concentrating on protecting our family and children,” Teigan wrote, “We have the utmost respect for each other, and are both very grateful for the people, as well as all of the support that we have in our lives!”

“We understand the interest, but would really appreciate your understanding and ask you to please respect our wishes [for privacy] at this time.”

Meanwhile Alex echoed, “At this time, Teigan and I are navigating this period of change together privately.”

“Due to our situation being made public we ask that you respect our privacy as we concentrate on our family and children, as they are our main priority.”

News of their split was first made public on Sunday by the Sydney Morning Herald who reported that they separated in January.

Former Newcastle Knights player Alex is currently working as an analyst at Fox Sports after his NRL career was cut short when he suffered spinal injuries in a tackle.
