The holidays might feel a little different for Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave this year as they navigate their divorce, but they’ll still be spending them together with their three kids.
Arroyave, 47, spoke on the Nov. 26 episode of his The Eds podcast about what he and Mellencamp, whose dad is rocker John Mellencamp, have planned this year with daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, and son Cruz, 10.
“Typically, we would do, you know, if it's Thanksgiving out her dad's house, we'd have Christmas at our house and then vice versa,” he told co-host Eddie Judge. “If it's Christmas or if it's Thanksgiving at our house, then we're going with her dad on Christmas. So that's always been sort of the back and forth. I think last year we celebrated Christmas at our house and then this year Thanksgiving will be at John's house.”

Arroyave explained that the “Hurts So Good” singer, 73, doesn’t typically come to his and his estranged wife’s place for the holidays.
“Typically, if John comes it’s because we're going to him,” Arroyave said, referencing the rocker's home in Indiana. “Although last year was sort of different. I think it was like the first time that he was with us at our house. We're typically going to his house. But you know, it's always a fun time going to his house.”
Arroyave shared the “great tradition” that he and his family have when they spend Thanksgiving at his father-in-law’s house.
“He’s got a nice little football field and we'll go, you know, eight on eight, 10 on 10,” he said. “I remember one year, Cruz just got ran over and he's just like crying, poor thing. I mean he just got completely ran over. And there is no safety. You're in that football game, if you're 5 years old and you're in the way, you're getting run over. But it's fun.”

Judge, 51, also checked in to see how Arroyave was doing in the wake of Mellencamp filling for divorce earlier this month after 13 years of marriage.
“I'm doing as good as I could be doing and just getting ready for the holidays, you know, and focusing on the things that I can control, right?” Arroyave said. “And all that other stuff kind of figures itself out as it figures itself out. But I've always been big on just focusing on what you can control and all that other stuff you can't control, you just leave that up to God and that’s what gives you peace.”
The father of three said he’s “been intentional” about “staying in faith” and “focusing on the children.”
“It's obviously difficult times, but you know, we do what we always do, which is you just remain pushing,” Arroyave continued.

He also acknowledged that the “timing sucks” to be splitting up. But “you continue to push forward,” Arroyave said. “You know, life's gonna throw some curveballs at you, and you just gotta continue to push and things have a way to always figure themselves out.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum filed for divorce from Arroyave on Nov. 1, citing irreconcilable differences and listing Oct. 20 as the date of separation. She originally requested primary custody of her and Arroyave’s three children, but according to new court documents filed later in the month, she decided to seek joint physical and legal custody.
After weeks of speculation about why their marriage ended, Mellencamp posted on Instagram on Sunday, Nov. 24, that she “decided to not pander” to the rumors anymore.
“I have cried and mourned,” the Bravo star wrote on Instagram. “I have taken accountability and apologized for things I have done wrong.. Now I have given myself permission to grow and thrive.”
