A two-part documentary about Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun's feud has dropped on MAX. Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood aims to explore both sides of the years-long conflict, which began with Braun's acquisition of Big Machine Records via his company, Ithaca Holdings, in 2019. Crucially, Braun's purchase included six of Swift's early albums—even though she was never consulted on the deal. The masters were then sold to another company, Shamrock Capital, for $300 million in 2020.

"Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years," Swift wrote on June 30, 2019. "Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it."

It's been five years since, and Swift has now reclaimed almost all of her catalog by painstakingly re-recording the albums one by one, most recently dropping 1989 (Taylor's Version) on October 27, 2023. And while it may feel like you know everything there is to know about her beef with Braun, documentaries have a tendency to reveal all sorts of fascinating new details.
