Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Love Story Inspired a RomCom—Watch the Trailer
Lifetime dropped a trailer for 'Christmas in the Spotlight.'
From exchanging flirty friendship bracelets to traveling the world to cheer each other on, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship is the stuff of rom-coms. And this winter, Swifties can indulge their curiosity with an actual rom-com inspired by the couple
This week, Lifetime released a trailer for its upcoming holiday movie, Christmas in the Spotlight, which follows a pop star and a football player as they navigate fame and find true love. While Lifetime hasn't confirmed the story's source material, the parallels suggest Swift and Kelce's real-life love story likely served as inspiration.
The trailer shows Drew, a football player, taking his niece to see a singer named Bowyn in concert. His niece encourages Drew to ask Bowyn out, and when the two meet backstage, sparks fly. They begin spending time together, and while Bowyn makes every effort to keep things "normal," watching movies, doing puzzles, and meeting each other's families, both of their jobs keep them in the spotlight. In one scene, Bowyn cheers on Drew at a game wearing a jersey with Drew's number, 13, on it. This may seem like a small detail, but it's another clue that the plot is based on a true story—any Swiftie will tell you 13 is Swift's favorite number.
In the official synopsis, the network says the film "follows Bowyn, a popular musician and celebrity, who despite always singing about love and relationships, hasn’t found Mr. Right yet. Her fame and busy recording schedule make it nearly impossible to date, but when she meets Drew, a pro football player, backstage at her show with his niece, there’s an undeniable spark between the two of them." Of course, no rom-com would be complete without a conflict, and the synopsis goes on to describe how pressure from the press, paparazzi, fans, and even family weighs on Bowyn and Drew's relationship. " (Something Swift and Kelce can almost certainly relate to.) And like any good holiday movie, it all comes to a head toward the end of December. "The pair has until the end of the holiday season to decide if they want to stay together, or let it go down in flames," the press release adds.
Luckily, you can see for yourself. Christmas in the Spotlight will premier November 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime. Watch the trailer, below.
