The 2024 NFL season kicks off tonight with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Baltimore Ravens, and there is a familiar face in the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium. Taylor Swift, who is on a break from her global "Eras Tour," is in attendance to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce as he tries to make history and win his third consecutive Super Bowl.

Prior to kickoff, Chiefs president Mark Donovan said on the Sept. 5 episode of Front Office Sports Today they were "prepared for her," adding: "She wants to be a fan, this is her off-time... we're going to provide that opportunity."

Swift and Kelce are now one year into their high-profile relationship, so they are used to making headlines — even fake ones.

Earlier this week, the Internet erupted over a supposed breakup contract the athlete's PR team crafted outlining a plan to roll out the news at the end of the month. "These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued or authorized by this agency," Kelce's PR firm Full Scope said in a statement.

"It's funny people fell for that," one source close to the couple tells Yahoo Entertainment. "It's a cliché way to put it, but honestly Taylor and Travis are going strong. They're solid."

One of the reasons why their relationship works is because Kelce isn't afraid of the limelight. "He's proud to be with her," adds Yahoo's insider.

In an interview that aired Thursday on CBS Mornings, the Super Bowl-winning athlete essentially affirmed that when asked about being Swift's "arm candy."

"It's the life I chose, I guess," Kelce laughed. "I have fun with it."

Those who know Kelce and Swift also praise their authenticity, something Donovan touched on in his podcast interview while calling the couple's love story "amazing."

"You have two really, really special people in the middle of this historic opportunity," he said. "I will say this about Taylor and Travis, one of the reasons that I think they are so impactful to the entire world, but specifically the Kansas City region and even more specifically to Chiefs Kingdom, they're both really authentic."

Donovan continued, "One of the things you learn in Kansas City is if you're not authentic, it doesn't work. People see through it. And if you are authentic, they will embrace you, and that has happened with both of them, obviously through Travis's career, but also recently with Taylor becoming a member of the Kingdom. That's how we look at it, is we're excited that she's an authentic Chiefs fan and that she's authentically a part of this community."

Although Swift dominated the NFL's promo for the new season — even outshining Chiefs MVP-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes — Donovan said they try their "very best to respect" her and Kelce's relationship.

"Last season in Arrowhead Stadium ... we didn't play a single Taylor Swift song," he said. "That is a sign of respect, we're not trying to capitalize on this. We're trying to celebrate it."

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said on Thursday's Today show that "it’s always a little bit of a surprise" when Swift is in the stadium pregame, and even he isn't aware of it. "But I'm sure the TV cameras will find her."

Get ready Swifties, it's going to be another fun NFL season.
